Ray was born at Coronado Hospital on June 1, 1957, where he resided until the age of four, when his family relocated to the Hilltop area of Chula Vista. Born April 10, 1957, in Kodiak, Alaska (territory). She graduated from Hilltop High School in 1975 and San Diego State in 1979. She was a life member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.
