1 week before starting my senior year at Hilltop I was informed that I would be leaving home and attending a boarding school in Paradise Valley, Arizona. Of course it came to me as a total surprise. Once I embraced the change I ended up loving almost every minute of it. Meeting people from all over the world was a wonderful experience. When I returned home I became a student at Southwestern College and worked part-time at The Broadway in Fashion Valley as a gift wrapper. While attending Southwestern I met my first husband in a Mexican American history class who was an avid surfer from K 38 and many other areas. Eventually I moved to Los Angles to attend the Fashion Institute of design and merchandise. My cute boyfriend decided to follow me to LA. After a year we were married. We stayed in LA for approximately 5 years. We had one child together who is our son Eddie. We moved back to SD when our son was 1 month old. When our son was aboutv18 months old my husband and I divorced. I raised my son for about 5 years while working for Pacific Bell and AT&T. Eventually meeting a Navy man who would become my second husband. His orders took us to Key West and Pensacola, Florida along with a 5 year tour in Roosevelt Roads, Ceiba, Puerto Rico. While living in Puerto Rico I became a head Ombudsman for 3 different Commanding officers. It was a great experience to be able to help the needs of the military families. I slso worked as a volunteer with The Navy Marine Corp relief sewing layette gift bags and addisting with emergency loans.i also ran a small cable business on base. In 94 we returned to Pensacola until my husband retired from the military. I worked for Cox Communications for about 20 years in Pensacola and Phoenix. After one too many hurricanes in Florida I had eventually transfered to Cox Communications in Phoenix to be near my sister's.I had just experienced my second divorce. My son was fortunate to get a full scholarship and had graduated from UF where he got his masters . After my retirement from Cox Communications I did a few different jobs until I became a High Value Business Banker with Wells Fargo.I retired in 2022. I'm now living in Scottsdale, Arizona where I do work a few hours a week helping with the sick elderly. I truly love the relationships I have built with these clients. I've also had the opportunity to do a lot of traveling. So far my favorite place is Brazil. As for my son he married a beautiful girl from Brazil and they have 2 beautiful children. They're living in Miami. I have a great dog named Candy Joan who is my best companion. I still have many close friends from Hilltop and I'm looking forward to the class of 75s, 50th reunion. If your ever in the Phoenix, Scottsdale, Arizona area please feel free to reach out to me. I'd love to see you. I look forward to seeing everyone in September. My best to all, Margaret (Meg) Hartin |

Comment: After 16 years of being divorced, I finally reclaimed my name. I got a BA from Northwest Christian College in Eugene OR and MDiv from Brite Divinity School in Ft Worth TX. I work as a chaplain at either hospitals or hospice -- currently a chaplain at San Diego Hospice and Palliative Care. I got married in 1981 and divorced in 1989 and have been single ever since. I have two wonderful daughters: Cassandra just graduated from Boston University, and Christina attends Chapman University (in Orange, CA). I'm just beginning to do some traveling. My greatest accomplishments are: 1) Raising 2 daughters by myself and 2) Becoming an ordained minister and doing ministry in the medical field. My hobbies and interests are going to movies, relaxing in jacuzzis, and learning golf. Some day I would like to be an educator in grief education. My favorite high school memory was being challenged in Mrs. Christianson's class -- anyone know if she is still with us and where? Also sitting in the same place every day for lunch and getting to know a few people really well. I have been fortunate enough to keep in contact with about six of my closest friends from HIlltop. I would like to reconnect with Georgia and Sylvia Sanchez, Reid Nuttall, and Matthew Mlekush. It was great seeing everyone at the reunion and reconnecting there. |

Comment: What a great time I had at the reunion! Nice to see so many smiling faces, but oh how time has changed us all. After high school, I spent a couple years at good ol' Southwestern studying horticulture... as it turned out, it was a tough row to hoe... so to speak. I fell back on a skill I learned, in all places, high school. Mr. Monroe taught a drafting class in 12th grade and I remembered most of it (the 70's took some of my gray matter). So, off I went into the world of design. After 7 years of working for others, I decided to start my own drafting service. In the early 90's the recession hit and I took a job at the City of San Diego in the Planning & Building Dept. But as our economy improved I returned to private sector and I'm still here, on my own again since 1999. During my stint at the City, I was able to complete the state examination process, and received my Architect License in 1993. I design remodels & room additions, custom homes, & multi-family residential projects. I also do an occasional commercial building; for those of you still in CV, I did Merkl's Deli & BBQ at 415 Broadway (great ribs), and the new La Bella Cafe & Games at 289 G St, set to open in Spring of 2007. I tried, and tried, and tried again (marriage is tough)... finally found the right match in 2005. I have one son, 18... need I say more?! I still live and work here in CV, my home town. I think about moving sometimes (California is getting pretty weird), but where in 48 states can I find 80 deg weather on New Year's Day!!! Hope everyone out there is doing well. I miss those we've lost, : ( , and I look forward to seeing those still here, : ) . Until our 35th... carpe diem!!! |

Comment:
It's been 10 years since I saw my bio. Now at 58, I'm a mom-in-law thru my first-born son and am happy watching their lives begin together. My middle son is working (yay) and in a relationship and the 3rd son just finished his 2nd year at SDSU and is thriving in sports and work. So it practically an empty nest syndrome for my husband (of 36 years this Oct.) and I. We only have 1 collie with us and a loud bird. I cant believe it is our 40th graduation reunion. Wishing all my classmates good health, happiness and may we all remember the good ole days. Our music era was the BEST |
