Occupation: Restaurant Owner
Comment: Had a great time at the reunion, can't wait to do it again and try to connect with other fellows! I graduated from SJSU in 1979 with a B.A. Theatre Arts (useless) by itself. I spent the next 8 years in law enforcement as an officer. The next 6 years were spent in Crime Prevention. I later became an administrative analyst for the city of San Marcos, until 1995 when I took the Public Information Officer for Washoe County, Reno, NV. Married in 1981, divorced in 2000. My ex-husband died in 2001, shortly after our divorce. My daughter, Megan is a senior at Galena HS in Reno and wants to be a physical therapist. We've been traveling to see colleges/ universities this summer. She's a great combination of both her Dad and I. I co-own a great upscale pizza and pasta place called Sonny's in Reno. Stop by and enjoy a beer or glass of wine with us. My partner is the chef and a great one at that! I use all my previous job skills to run the front, book-keep, personnel (we have 13 F/T or P/T employees) and market and advertise the place. It's been open 3 years and I love it! Previous jobs include speech writing for politicians, fundraising for children's organizations, acting and directing children's theatres, education coordinator for the NV Public Utilities Commission, media consultant for UNR/Nevada Association of Counties, ski instructor at Kirkwood and reflexologist. Having said all of that, I really don't want to do anything I don't like to do for too long or become too successful. I love being a Mom! I had a great time catching up with many at the reunion. Hi to everyone who attended that I didn't say hi to. Ciao, Kathy

Gail Larsen (Graham)

Occupation: Manager of the 911 Center
Comment: I got my B.S. in Business Management, University of Phoenix, 1998. I don't have any children of my own, but great relationships with 2 nieces, 2 nephews, one great niece and two great nephews. I love traveling. I think the farthest I’ve traveled was to Denmark to visit friends, loved the people, countryside, and historical places; lots of trips to various places in Mexico, Puerto Vallarta, La Paz, Cozumel, and the Yucatan Peninsula where I saw ancient ruins and climbed the pyramid at Chichen Itza; a 15-day cruise through the Panama Canal with stops in the Caribbean then Costa Rica, Mazatlan, Cabo San Lucas. Went to Kauai, Hawaii, it rained everyday but it was still beautiful. Spent a little time in Montreal. I’d like to see Alaska and also go to more tropical places. I’d like to go back to Europe and see more there. My greatest accomplishment? Hmmm…I’ve achieved a variety of “things”, like learning to scuba dive, earning a black belt in Tang Soo Do, flying an airplane, a good career. But getting a college degree was a significant accomplishment for me that held deep personal meaning. It was a goal I had set for myself in high school but when my life took some unplanned turns and twists in the last two years of high school and a few years afterward, my goals were set aside. So years later, getting my degree was therapeutic in a sense. It’s not a great accomplishment in the big scheme of things, but for me it was significant. My hobbies and interests:I like to snow ski and water ski. My main hobby right now is 4-wheeling in my jeep that’s built for rock crawling. Besides the many off-road areas here in San Diego and Imperial Counties, I’ve been jeeping in Moab, Utah, twice. Moab is not only great wheeling but it’s also incredibly beautiful country. I’ve done the historical Rubicon trail up by Lake Tahoe twice where we camp overnight on the trail so you have to pack all your food, supplies and gear in your jeep. Dreams/goals for the future: Make it to retirement in good enough health to enjoy it! Favorite H.S. memory: Probably the great time I had as a Lancerette during 10th grade. Who would I like to see: Lily Retana.

Rick Lee

Children: 5
Occupation: Senior Scientist
Comment: The last 30 years have been great ones. After getting a BA in Biochemistry from UCB in 1980 and not finding a job in San Diego BEFORE the biotech boom, I was a SD Police Officer for a short time and then received an MS in Optical Physics from good ol' SDSU. I started working at General Atomics in Sorrento Valley after that and have been there ever since in their Nuclear Fusion Research Operations Group.  We do nuclear fusion research for the Department of  Energy.   I have been married to Sara (Sara Lee, that is) since 1985 and we have 5 children ages 12 - 27. We live in Temecula and are enjoying camping and some visits to Kaua'i. I am active in promoting science education through work and since about 2002 have been the Education and Outreach Chair for the American Physical Society/Division of Plasma Physics and Manager of the Fusion Education Group  (http://fusioned.gat.com).  We enjoyed very much the recent 30th reunion and will send a pic ASAP. Good to hear from all other Hilltop people- you're the greatest.

Karen Logan (Haney)

Children: 2
Occupation: Director Purchasing and Travel
Comment: Still live in Chula Vista (in the HHS school district) in a very old house which I love. Married Mr. Wonderful at 20 so I was still just a pup. Went to college, but didn't make it to graduation before the bambinos arrived. Son is 24 and daughter is 20. I've been working in the corporate purchasing area of a couple of San Diego's larger firms. Hobbies are gardening and remodeling our old home. In the process of all the remodeling I discovered that I have a talent for kitchen and bathroom design. Someday I hope I will be able to go back to school to obtain a certification in and take on some design jobs on the side. Have travelled a lot during the last 4-5 years and really enjoy seeing how other people live and work. It appears that here in the states we work entirely too hard! Anyway, that's all about me-how bout you???

Rick Logsdon

Marital status: Divorced
Children: 3
Occupation: Retail, Education (Elementary School Principal)
Comment: I've been married once, divorced after 16 years. We have three kids: Tommy (22), Tyler (21), and Carlie (16) is a sophomore at Eastlake High School and doing quite well.

I was in a gay relationship that lasted 7 years, but now I've found the love of my life in Randy. He is from Arkansas, but he will be moving to San Diego very soon!

I've traveled to New Orleans (before Katrina), NYC, upstate NY, and try to get down to Puerta Vallarta twice a year. My hobbies include singing, reading, theatre, and wine. Greatest accomplishments are my kids. Nothing could be as much as that. And for the future, now that I've found Mr. Right, I hope to marry him and move to a place that has a slow lifestyle, is accepting of gays, and where we can afford to buy a home. I would also like to travel more.
