Comment: It was great to see everyone at the reunion. After two years at UCSD, I transferred to UC Berkeley and graduated in Biology. Medical School at UC Irvine was followed by a residency in Internal Medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, where I met my wife Linda on a blind date. Cardiology fellowship was at Harbor-UCLA medical center in Torrance. I have been in a group practice in Pasadena since 1988 with the largest cardiology group in Southern California. I am mostly based at Huntington Memorial Hospital. There, I am Director of the Cardiac Catherization Laboratory and have a faculty appointment at USC School of Medicine teaching medical students and residents. I spend my time doing procedures, seeing patients, teaching, with administrative duties, and a small amount of legal work. We have two children, Alison 9 and Jason 6. Alison loves dancing, swimming, music, and art. Jason likes climbing trees, building legos, and watching DVD's with his dad. We take the kids on hikes, bike rides, to the beach, and to museums and theme parks. Linda's backround is in fundraising and development. She has been involved in many projects in the community dealing with access to health care for indigent children and a library program for a home for abused kids. I try to find a little time for myself to cycle, work out, and read novels. I try for one century bike ride a year (100 miles). Between work and family, the time seems to go by pretty quick. |

Comment:
I'm married with one son. I have a degree in computer science management from Redlands University. I love to read but not fiction. I prefer books on finance, management, and living a positive life. We love the cinema and see a new movie every weekend. We also travel as often as possible. I've worked for Countrywide Home Loans since 1991. I lived in the United Kingdom for 4 years where I was one of seven Americans sent to start a joint venture mortgage company with a British bank. Living in England allowed us quick and easy access to Europe. My favourite places are Austria and Italy. I now live in Texas and am heading up the funding group for another Countrywide subsidiary Full Spectrum Lending. |

Comment:
I have always been involved with studying the natural sciences. I followed this passion to California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo where I obtained my bachelor's degree in Environmental and Systematic Biology. Currently I am in the Masters of Biology Program at the University of Arizona in Tucson. I have done most of my teaching in the life and earth sciences, both at the junior and high school level. I have the opportunity to participate in many programs aimed at taking science education outside the classroom and infusing the learning content with various ecological issues facing our community. Through these projects, I have been presented with many honors including national recognition (Toyota Tapestry grant), as well as other awards/grants fostering the connection between students and the community. None of these, however, could prevent me from playing the original Ms. Frizzle in the San Diego Natural History Museum's Magic School Bus program! Being a scientist in education is a constant endeavor, and I still approach it with enthusiasm. This passion has lead me to explore all seven continents, seeing for myself some of the last wild places on earth. Some of these experiences have included visiting the mountain gorillas in Rwanda, banding fairy penguins in Australia, swimming with sharks and other creatures in the Galapagos, and attending a conservation workshop in the rain forest of the Amazon. Through the National Science Foundation and the TEA program, I was invited to join an expedition in Antarctica for two months where we studied diatomaceous ooze in relation to global climate change. Since the fire in 2004, I have been doing post-fire recovery studies in Mission Trails park. Working with people (especially the generations behind my own) to study the causal factors underlying environmental issues, and then empowering them to create change, however small, has been the zenith of my career.

Comment: I studied engineering at BSEE. I work on various satellite programs, currently a NASA contract with Honeywell. I've been married to Karin for 28 years and we have three boys age 25, 23, and 19. I've traveled a lot, mostly during my five years in USAF. I was really bummed I missed the reunion, but I didn't find out about it until the Monday before. Oh well, maybe in 5 or 10 years. |
